In my county – Parker County Texas – we are trying to figure out if natural gas drilling has contaminated the water supply in several locations. You can read this article in the local news. I have a feeling that fracking (in natural gas drilling) does not have anything to do with the water contamination. About a year ago a neighboring county blamed natural gas drilling for air pollution, which turned out to be false. Still, I am completely in favor of running tests to find out what is causing the water pollution. Either way, the cause needs to be determined.

Because natural gas is a cleaner alternative than say gasoline, I’d hate for our natural gas reserves to go untapped. Yet, if extracting the natural gas will possibly cause water contamination, then it really isn’t worth the risk.
